"Good fiction is made of that which is real, and reality is difficult to come by." -Ralph Ellison
This Is What's Up
What? The purpose behind this lesson is to fully engage students in the themes, plot points, and other important information from the book Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison.
Um, How? We're glad you asked. You are about to embark on a journey across the school to seven top secret locations with a handy-dandy ipad. On your search, you will be looking for red or white poster boards with information about the book, Invisible Man. You will need to access this website during your search. Each section of the website that is labeled "Part. . ." has a short feedback section below a summary of the chapters it encompasses to make sure that you are actually learning things, or just able to read. Each location around the school will be about a specific scene or plot point in the book and have these pieces of information from the book: A quote with an explanation, a vocabulary word or two, a description of an important character, a historical fun fact, the message or theme associated with each passage, and the clue to the location of the next poster in riddle format. We will know if you go out of order or lollygag. Both teams will be sent to different starting locations in order to see which team can finish first. There is also a surprise for when you return to the classroom. Hurry Back!
Who goes where first?
Team Huck will be sent to location one first and then continue to location two.
Team Hazel will be sent to location seven and then continue to location one.
What if we get lost? Aww, don't get your fundie's in a bundle! We know this school is big and scary sometimes so we have a map for you below, just in case.
So, where are we going?
Team Huck- Nurse's office
Team Hazel- The basement
My mom forgot to pack my lunch, what do I do? Don't fret! There is a location in the cafeteria.
Who came up with this? Somehow, we all had the same really weird dream on Friday night that involved a scavenger hunt and decided to model our project after the dream. Only, there were more loud cats in the dream than this scavenger hunt. We are now on our own scavenger hunt for these "mittons" to remove the loud stomping noises from the cats in our dream. Please help if you can.
